Idlestat usa la funzione FTRACE del kernel per monitorare e catturare le transizioni C-state e P-state delle CPU in un intervallo di tempo. Calcola i tempi totale, medio, minimo e massimo spesi in ciascun C-state e P-state per ogni CPU e in ogni cluster di CPU. Riporta anche, per ogni CPU e IRQ, le volte in cui IRQ specifici hanno causato l'uscita della CPU dallo stato inattivo.
