Sting::Compare::ConstantTime fornisce una funzione, equals(), che accetta come argomento due stringhe della stessa lunghezza. Restituisce VERO se sono identiche come stringhe e FALSO altrimenti, proprio come eq. Tuttavia il confronto di due stringhe diverse qualsiasi richiede, a differenza di eq, una quantità di tempo costante.
