Generisk automatiseringsværktøj for Linux-kommandolinjen.

Ydotool fungerer anderledes end xdotool. Xdotool sender X-hændelser direkte til X-serveren, mens ydotool bruger uinput-rammen for Linuxkernen til at emulere en enhed.

Værktøjet er opdelt it to dele, serveren (dæmonen) og klienten (kommandolinjeredskab). Når ydotoold (dæmonen) starter, så opretter den en sokkel brugt af kommandolinjeredskabet ydotool til at kommunikere med indtastningsenheden.
