Dhcpcd tilbyder praktisk og automatisk IPv4- og IPv6-konfiguration:

Denne pakke tilbyde de binære filer, afslutningskroge og manualsider.
Den tilbyder en dual-stack erstatning for ISC DHCP Client (dhclient) på systemer hvor grænseflader er konfigureret af ifupdown via </etc/network/interfaces>, der bruger DHCP-metoden.
Init.d-skriptet og systemd-tjenesten krævet for systemer uden ifupdown er pakket separat som dhcpcd.
