GNU verze archivačního nástroje tar

Program tar slouží k zabalení kolekce souborů do jednoho archívu (souboru ve formátu tar). Prováděné operace se koncepčně podobají cpio a PKZIP ve světě DOSu. Tar se hojně používá v balíčkovacím systému Debianu a hodí se pro provádění záloh a výměnu souborů.
