PostgreSQL을 위한 지리 객체 지원

PostGIS는 PostgreSQL 객체 관계형 데이타베이스에 지리 객체에 대한 지원을 추가합니다. 실제로, PostGIS는 PostgreSQL 서버를 "공간적으로 환성화"하여 ESRI의 SDE 또는 Oracle의 Spatial 확장같은 지리 정보 시스템 (GIS)의 백엔드 공간 데이타베이스로 사용할 수 있습니다. PostGIS는 OpenGI의 "Simple Features Specification for SQL"을 따릅니다.
