GPL Ghostscript è usato per la visualizzazione e la stampa di PostScript e PDF. Può visualizzare documenti PostScript e PDF in un ambiente X11 ed è il normale back-end di programmi come ghostview.

È inoltre in grado di trasformare file PostScript e PDF in immagini grafiche per la stampa su stampanti non PostScript. Le stampanti supportate comprendono i comuni modelli a matrice di punti, a getto di inchiostro e laser.

Il pacchetto texlive-binaries suggerito è richiesto solo quando si usa dvipdf.
