Hesiod è una libreria name service che può fornire un name service generale per una varietà di applicazioni. È derivata da BIND (Berkeley Internet Name Daemon) e si appoggia all'infrastruttura DNS esistente di una rete. È usata in numerose reti universitarie, compreso MIT e Iowa State University.

Questo pacchetto è utile solo su reti che già usano Hesiod.
