Credential Validation Modules (PostgreSQL)

CVM è un'infrastruttura per la convalida di un insieme di credenziali in base ad un database e usando un programma filtro. I moduli agiscono da filtro, prendendo un insieme di credenziali come input e scrivendo un insieme di dati come output, se le credenziali sono valide. Le variabili d'ambiente possono fornire input opzionale al modulo.

Alcune delle idee alla base di CVM vengono dall'esperienza con PAM (moduli di autenticazione inseribili), dall'interfaccia checkpassword usata da qmail-pop3d e dall'interfaccia "authmod" usata da IMAP e POP3 Courier. Questa infrastruttura pone meno restrizioni rispetto a checkpassword sul client che fa l'invocazione ed è molto più semplice da implementare da entrambi i lati rispetto a PAM e all'infrastruttura authmod.

Questo pacchetto include i binari cvm per interagire con database PostgreSQL.
