protocollo Network Block Device - server

Network Block Device (NBD) è un protocollo client/server che emula un device a blocchi (come un disco fisso, un dischetto floppy, un CD-ROM, ...) in rete, dando perciò al sistema la capacità di fare lo swap in rete o di usare spazio su disco grezzo in rete per altri scopi.

Tuttavia accedere in scrittura ad un singolo Network Block Device da diversi client contemporaneamente non è raccomandato e avrebbe probabilmente come risultato una perdita di dati. Se si vuole che client multipli condividano una risorsa remota, si usi un filesystem di rete come NFS o CODA.

Questo pacchetto fornisce l'eseguibile server per NBD.
