Il Revision Control System (RCS - sistema per il controllo delle revisioni) gestisce revisioni multiple di file. RCS rende automatiche le operazioni di immagazzinamento, recupero, log, identificazione e unione di revisioni. RCS è utile per testi che sono revisionati frequentemente, per esempio: programmi, documentazione, grafici, documenti e moduli di lettere.

Nota: questo pacchetto contiene alcuni comandi generici (come merge o ident) che possono essere utilizzati da altri programmi installati nel sistema.
