Frotz interpreta file storia Z-code che sono solitamente giochi di avventura testuali (anche se sono stati scritti alcuni giochi Z-code in stile arcade). Tra gli esempi di tali file storia sono inclusi i giochi di avventura pubblicati da Infocom, oltre a tutti i giochi prodotti da compilatori in questo formato, come Inform.
