Il pacchetto netpipes rende utilizzabili negli script di shell i flussi TCP/IP. Può anche semplificare il codice client/server permettendo al programmatore di saltare tutti di noiosi dettagli relativi ai socket e di concentrarsi sulla scrittura di un filtro o di altri servizi.
