visualizzatore ed editor esadecimale o ASCII per file o device

hexedit mostra una destinazione sia in esadecimale sia in ASCII. Questa destinazione può essere un device o un file. È possibile modificare la destinazione ed effettuare ricerche al suo interno. Sono anche presenti funzioni per il copia-incolla e per salvare su file ed è possibile troncare la destinazione o farvi delle aggiunte. Tutte le modifiche vengono mostrate in grassetto.

hexedit è l'ideale per modificare o ispezionare file o device molto grandi, come hard disk o loro partizioni, unità flash, ecc. Questi elementi non verranno letti interamente dato che hexedit carica un pezzo alla volta.

hexedit può essere utilizzato dai programmatori in varie attività. È anche utile per fare il debug, per investigazioni forensi e per il recupero da disastri digitali.
