Simpel overførselsaccelerator til kommandolinjen

Axel forsøger at gøre overførselsprocessen hurtigere ved at bruge flere forbindelser for en fil, svarende til DownThemAll og andre kendte programmer. Programmet kan også bruge flere spejle for en overførsel.

Med Axel kan du hente filer hurtigere fra internettet. Så Axel kan øge hastigheden med op til 60 % (cirka, jævnfør nogle test).

Axel understøtter protokollerne HTTP, HTTPS, FTP og FTPS.

Axel forsøger at være så simpel som muligt, så programmet kan være nyttigt som en wget-klon (og andre konsolbaserede programmer) på byte- kritiske systemer.
