WEB-lignende værktøj til alfabetiseret programmering (literate programming)

Noweb er designet til at imødegå behovene fra alfabetiserede udviklere (»literate programmers«), og forblive så simpelt som mulig. Dets primære fordele er simplicitet, at det kan udvides samt sproguafhængighed.

Manualen til noweb udgøres af blot 3 sider; en ekstra side forklarer hvordan dets LaTeX-uddata kan tilpasses. noweb fungerer »ud af æsken« med ethvert programmeringssprog, og understøtter motorerne TeX, LaTex og HTML.

Det primære ofring i forhold til WEB er, at koden ikke vises »prettyprinted« (en form for typografisk opsætning).
