Pakken greenlet er en udledning fra Stackless, en version af CPython som understøtter mikrotråde kaldt »tasklets«. Tasklets kører pseudo-samtidigt (typisk i en enkel eller nogle få tråde på operativsystemniveau) og som kan synkroniseres med dataudvekslinger på »kanaler«.

Greenlet er den uafhængige pakke afledt fra py-biblioteket og som bruges af flere ikkeblokerende IO-pakker som et mere fleksibelt alternativ til Pythons indbyggede korutiner.
