file 測試每個傳入的參數並辨別他的分類。共有三種測試依序的使用：檔案系統測 試、magic 數字測式、以及語系測試。第一個成功的測試會印出檔案類型。

從第四版開始，file 指令就只是 "magic" 函式庫的封裝。
