glurps is a gtk2.4+ frontend to the MPD music daemon, it has barely the same functionalitys gmpc introduced: 

  * playlist support.
  * password connection to MPD.
  * adding/removing files from playlists.
  * id3 editor.
it is thought slower than gmpc, but the different layout may seduce you.
