GNU privacy guard - um substituto livre para o PGP

GnuPG é a ferramenta GNU para comunicações e armazenamento de dados seguros. Pode ser usada para encriptar dados e criar assinaturas digitais. Inclui uma avançada ferramenta de gestão de chaves e está de acordo com o standard proposto da Internet OpenPGP tal como descrito em RFC2440.

GnuPG não usa nenhum algoritmo patenteado portanto não pode ser compatível com o PGP2 porque este usa IDEA (que é patenteado mundialmente).
