O Debian Almquist Shell (dash) é um shell leve compatível com POSIX derivado do ash.

Ele pode ser útil se instalado como /bin/sh (já que executa seus scripts mais rápido que o bash), ou como o shell padrão para o superusuário. Depende de menos bibliotecas que o bash e, portanto, é menos sujeito a ser afetado por um problema de atualização ou de falha de disco. É também útil para checar a compatibilidade de scripts com o POSIX.
