ivman jest demonem działającym nad warstwą HAL-a. Nasłuchuje zdarzeń HAL-a i reaguje wykonując skonfigurowaną przez użytkownika akcję. Obecnie wspiera automontowanie nowych nośników i podłączanych urządzeń, automatyczne uruchamianie i odtwarzanie dla CD i DVD oraz automatyczne zarządzanie aparatem fotograficznym.
