klient DHCP

To jest klient trzeciej wersji protokołu DHCP zaimplementowanej przez Internet Software Consortium. Więcej informacji można znaleźć na stronie http://www.isc.org.

Protokół dynamicznej konfiguracji hosta (DHCP) jest protokołem podobnym do BOOTP (dhcpd rzeczywiście zawiera dużo z funkcjonalności bootpd). Pozwala komputerowi klientowi “wydzierżawić” adres IP i umożliwia automatyczną konfigurację jego połączenia sieciowego. Jeżeli adres komputera przydzielany jest za pomocą DHCP (zwłaszcza jeżeli jest to stacja robocza w dużej sieci, laptop lub komputer połączony przez modem kablowy), powinien być zainstalowany ten lub inny klient DHCP.
