NSD3 è un server di nomi, solamente autorevole, ad alte prestazioni, semplice ed open source.

NSD è stato sviluppato principalmente da NLnet Labs su richiesta e in stretta collaborazione con RIPE NCC, come software per server di nomi alternativo da eseguire sul server di nomi root gestito da RIPE NCC.

Questo è un pacchetto fittizio di transizione da nsd 2.x a nsd 3.x. Può essere rimosso senza problemi.

Sarà necessario convertire il file di configurazione in un nuovo formato e ciò può essere fatto dallo script /usr/share/doc/nsd3/contrib/nsd.zones2nsd.conf
