Smarty Gettext è un plugin Smarty che fornisce la gestione dell'internazionalizzazione basata sul meccanismo standard gettext. Smarty è un popolare motore per modelli PHP.

È necessario l'interprete PHP a riga di comando se si desidera usare il programma tsmarty2c; permette di estrarre stringhe traducibili da un modello Smarty in modo da poter in seguito usare i normali strumenti gettext.
