rimpiazzo per il vecchio crypt(1) UNIX

mcrypt è un programma di cifratura pensato per rimpiazzare il vecchio crypt(1) di UNIX. Può tuttavia fare molto altro, dato che la sua libreria libmcrypt può cifrare e decifrare usando i seguenti algoritmi: BLOWFISH, TWOFISH, DES, TripleDES, 3-WAY, SAFER-sk64, SAFER-sk128, SAFER+, OKI97, GOST, RC2, RC6, MARS, IDEA, RIJNDAEL-128, RIJNDAEL-192, SERPENT, RIJNDAEL-256, CAST-128 (conosciuto come CAST5), CAST-256, ARCFOUR, ENIGMA, PANAMA, XTEA e WAKE.

Notare che questo pacchetto è pieno di bug e non più mantenuto dall'autore originario. Se possibile si consiglia di cercare altre implementazioni (openssl, gnutls, gnupg).
