naviga pagine man con browser web

Puntando il browser a http://localhost/cgi-bin/man/man2html si possono leggere e ricercare le proprie pagine man dal browser.

Questo programma ha bisogno di un server HTTP che gestisce la CGI. Dopo l'installazione potrebbe essere necessario abilitare la gestione della CGI nel server HTTP (CGI può essere disabilitato in maniera predefinita per ragioni di sicurezza). Per apache2, ciò può essere fatto con i seguenti comandi:

 $ sudo a2enmod cgid
 $ sudo systemctl restart apache2

Caratteristiche:

 * programma CGI in C veloce per la conversione da man/BSD-mandoc a HTML;
 * lavora dal sorgente nroff/troff non formattato;
 * il sorgente può essere compresso;
 * crea tabelle tbl (ma non equazioni eqn);
 * genera collegamenti ipertestuali a pippo(1), abc@host e file xyzzy.h;
 * script CGI per indice alfabetico della sezione basato su whatis;
 * script CGI per indice alfabetico della sezione dei soli nomi;
 * script CGI per ricerca completa nel testo (richiede swish++);
 * script d'interfaccia per dialogare con una sessione di Netscape già
   in esecuzione.
