GIMP permette di disegnare, dipingere, modificare immagini e molto altro! GIMP include funzionalità e plugin di altri famosi programmi di ritocco ed elaborazione di immagini.

Se si desidera poter aprire file da remoto (per esempio tramite HTTP o FTP), si installi il pacchetto gvfs-backends.

Per usare un dispositivo MIDI come periferica di input in GIMP, installare libasound2 e leggere l'how-to in /usr/share/doc/gimp/README.MIDI

Se si desidera poter leggere e scrivere file PostScript con GIMP, si installi il pacchetto ghostscript.
