xclip è una utilità a riga di comando progettata per girare su qualsiasi sistema con un'implementazione di X11. Fornisce un'interfaccia alle selezioni di X (gli "appunti") dalla riga di comando. Può leggere dati dallo standard input o da un file e metterli in una selezione X in modo che possano essere incollati in altre applicazioni X. xclip può anche stampare una selezione X sullo standard output, che può quindi essere rediretto ad un file o ad un altro programma.
