monta dispositivi rimovibili come normale utente

pmount è un "wrapper" intorno al comando standard mount che permette agli utenti normali di montare dispositivi removibili anche senza una corrispondente voce nel file /etc/fstab. Ciò costituisce una base solida per sistemi di mount automatico come il progetto Utopia di GNOME e riduce al minimo la quantità di codice che deve girare come root.

Questo pacchetto contiene anche pmount-hal, un altro wrapper che ottiene da hal alcune informazioni come label e opzioni di mount e le passa a pmount. Per usare questa funzionalità è necessario avere "hal" installato.

Se risulta installata una versione di cryptsetup configurata per LUKS, pmount può anche montare volumi cifrati in modo trasparente.
