A more-hoz hasonló lapozóprogram

A less egy more(1)-hoz hasonló program, de ezzel vissza is éppúgy mozoghatsz a szövegben, mint előre. Ráadásul a less nem olvassa be az egész fájlt indulás előtt, így nagy állományok esetén gyorsabban indul el, mint például a vi(1) szövegszerkesztő. A program figyeli a termcap (vagy egyes rendszereken a terminfo) bejegyzéseket, ezért sokféle terminálon futtatható. Korlátozottan ugyan, de az úgynevezett `hardcopy' terminálok is támogatottak.
