This program performs the storage and recovery of the file attributes and data to the physical backup media or volumes. In other words, it is responsible for reading and writing your tapes (or other storage media, such as files).

The Storage Daemon runs as a daemon on the machine which has the backup device(s) (usually a tape drive).
