9base es una adaptación a Unix de las siguientes herramientas de usuario originales de Plan 9: awk, basename, bc, cat, cleanname, date, dc, echo, grep, mk, rc, sed, seq, sleep, sort, tee, test, touch, tr, uniq, y yacc.

9base actualmente sólo lo usa wmii2 (gestor de ventanas mejorado, versión 2).
