Interpreter für die PostScript-Sprache und für PDF

GPL Ghostscript wird für Druck und Druckvorschau von PostScript/PDF genutzt. Es kann, normalerweise als Backend für ein Programm wie ghostview, PostScript- und PDF-Dokumente in einer X11-Umgebung anzeigen.

Außerdem kann es PostScript- und PDF-Dateien als Grafiken rastern, die von Druckern ohne PostScript-Unterstützung gedruckt werden können. Unterstützte Drucker schließen gebräuchliche Punktmatrix-, Tintenstrahl- und Lasermodelle ein.
