Logrotationsværktøj

Værktøjet logrotate er lavet for at gøre administrationen af logfiler nemmere på systemer, der genererer en masse logfiler. Logrotate klarer automatisk rotation, komprimering, fjernelse og postafsendelse af logfiler. Logrotate kan sættes til at behandle logfiler dagligt, ugentligt, månedligt eller når logfilen når en bestemt størrelse. Normalt kører logrotate som en daglig cron-opgave.
