genext2fs je určen pro vytvoření souborového systému ext2 pro běžného (ne-roota) uživatele. Nevyžaduje připojení souboru s obrazem pro zkopírování souborů na něj. Dokonce při vytvoření uzlů zařízení ani nevyžaduje abyste byli superuživatelem.
