Widgetová miniaplikace pro GNOME

Screenlets je malá aplikace (napsaná v Pythonu), kterou je možno popsat slovy „virtuální reprezentace věcí ležících/stojících na vašem stole“. Tím se rozumí poznámky, hodiny, pravítky, ... možnosti jsou nekonečné.

Cílem základních tříd Screenlets je zjednodušit vytváření miniaplikací podporujících témata, které pomohou při řešení základních pracovních potřeb a obecně zlepší použitelnost i vzhled moderních kompozitního linuxového desktopu.

Vlastnosti:

 * Opravdové aplikace, ne HTML-"widgety"
 * Snadno použitelné a vytvořitelné
 * Kompletní podpora composite
 * Funguje s libovolným kompozitním desktopem (compiz, xfce4, ...)
 * Funguje na libovolném ne-kompozitním desktopu
 * Podpora témat (SVG, PNG nebo kombinace)
 * Plná podpora změny velikosti při použití SVG
 * Vestavěná podpora táhni & pusť
 * Automatické uložení voleb (pomocí souboru ini nebo GConf)
 * Ovládání přes služby D-Bus
 * Je možno používat spolu s pluginem compiz a vytvořit tak vzhled
   Dashboard podobný jako na OS X
 * K vykreslování používá Cairo a GTK2
