POSIX-kompatibilní shell

DASH (Debian Almquist Shell) je nenáročný POSIX-kompatibilní shell odvozený od ash.

Program je možno snadno využívat jako /bin/sh (protože vykonává skripty rychleji než bash), nebo jako výchozí shell superuživatele. Závisí na menším počtu knihoven než bash a z tohoto důvodu je také méně náchylnější na problémy související s aktualizací systému nebo selhání disku. Také se hodí pro kontrolu skriptů kompatibilních se standardem POSIX.
