laptop-net (2.26-7.2) unstable; urgency=low

   * Non-maintainer upload
   * build depend on libpcap0.8-dev instead of libpcap-dev since the older
     version has problems on amd64 which leads to arp-discovery not being
     performed properly, thus to inability to automatically select schemes
     (Closes: #407435)
   * Added translations:
     - Romanian (Closes: #414054)
     - Spanish (Closes: #413777)

 -- Eddy Petrișor <eddy.petrisor@gmail.com>  Fri, 9 Mar 2007 23:54:22 +0200

2006

laptop-net (2.26-7) unstable; urgency=low

   * Closes: bug#388384 -- reopen and close this bug because the package
     inadvertently included only one file from the plethora of files sent

 -- Al Stone <ahs3@debian.org>  Sun, 19 Nov 2006 17:05:03 -0700

laptop-net (2.26-6) unstable; urgency=low

 -- Al Stone <ahs3@debian.org>  Mon, 23 Oct 2006 08:18:19 -0600

laptop-net (2.26-5) unstable; urgency=low

   * Closes: bug#388384 -- add documentation in the form of a skeleton for
     custom profiles (patch from Eddy Petrisor <eddy.petrisor@gmail.com>)
   * Closes: bug#228397 -- laptop-net loaded too early on boot; this is no
     longer an issue, given where pcmcia services are now started (in rcS.d)
     and that laptops now usually have eth0 as a built-in device and not a
     PCMCIA card.
   * Closes: bug#333163 -- on purge, laptop-net will now correctly remove
     files from /etc/apm
   * Closes: bug#178920 -- 'net' is a more appropriate section than 'admin'
   * Closes: bug#254012 -- added 'Conflicts' with 'laptop-netconf' which
     has no connection to this package, and will indeed cause some minor
     trouble if both are installed.

 -- Al Stone <ahs3@debian.org>  Sat, 21 Oct 2006 20:17:07 -0600

   * Update to standards version 3.6.0 (no changes).

 -- Chris Hanson <cph@debian.org>  Fri, 1 Aug 2003 21:06:44 -0400

laptop-net (2.21-1) unstable; urgency=low

   * New upstream version:
     - Fix problems with resolvconf support, and update to support DNS
       features from newer version (>= 0.18).
     - Use shared code from autonet project.
       (http://alioth.debian.org/projects/autonet)
     - Always keep the network interface "up". This is needed for the
       sis900 driver, and possibly others.
     - Implement multiple-interface support. This needs more work in
       "debian/init.d" before it is fully functional. This is a big change
       and is probably buggy.
   * Move build-depends-indep to build-depends as temporary fix.
     (closes: Bug#197100)
   * Shut down interface when upgrading. I don't know how to fix this
     properly.  (reopens: Bug#195752)  (closes: Bug#198081)
   * Add dependency on net-tools, for ifconfig.

 -- Chris Hanson <cph@debian.org>  Fri, 20 Jun 2003 01:53:22 -0400

laptop-net (2.20-1) unstable; urgency=low

   * New upstream version adds support for ethtool.
   * Add support for resolvconf package.
     (http://alioth.debian.org/projects/update-resolv)
   * Convert to use CDBS.

 -- Chris Hanson <cph@debian.org>  Tue, 10 Jun 2003 00:34:09 -0400

laptop-net (2.19-2) unstable; urgency=low

   * Don't depend on sysv-rc.  (closes: Bug#196663)

 -- Chris Hanson <cph@debian.org>  Sun, 8 Jun 2003 18:15:29 -0400

laptop-net (2.19-1) unstable; urgency=low

   * New upstream version no longer depends on pcmcia-cs or psmisc, but is
     enhanced if they are available. So these packages are now "suggests"
     rather than "depends".
   * Change list of dependencies so that it is accurate.

 -- Chris Hanson <cph@debian.org>  Sun, 8 Jun 2003 12:49:40 -0400

laptop-net (2.18-1) unstable; urgency=low

   * New upstream version fixes e100 problem introduced in last version.
     (closes: Bug#195751)
   * Don't shut down interface when laptop-net is stopped; just stop the
     ifd daemon.  (closes: Bug#195752)

 -- Chris Hanson <cph@debian.org>  Wed, 4 Jun 2003 13:47:55 -0400

laptop-net (2.17-1) unstable; urgency=low

   * New upstream version should fix the problems with network drivers that
     require the device to be "up". However, the sis900 driver doesn't
     work with this code, and the kernel developers have been less than
     helpful. Feel free to file a bug report for this. I've added a file
     "/usr/share/doc/README.Debian.gz" that has further information.
     (closes: Bug#188474)
   * Add dependencies on pcmcia-cs and ifupdown. (closes: Bug#192226)
   * Redesign configuration file management according to Colin Walters'
     design.  (closes: Bug#189347, Bug#189293)
   * Export all scheme configuration variables as LTN_foo, for use within
     profile scripts.  (closes: Bug#187965)
   * Don't stop the daemon in "debian/config" when reconfiguring. It's
     already being stopped by "debian/prerm".
   * Update standards-version to 3.5.10 (no changes).

 -- Chris Hanson <cph@debian.org>  Sat, 17 May 2003 22:35:38 -0400

laptop-net (2.16-1) unstable; urgency=low

   * New upstream version:
     * Don't up the network interface prior to probing it.
       (closes: Bug#178729)  (but reopens Bug#172647)
     * Fix memory leak in ifd. (closes: Bug#177421)
     * When changing profiles, export INTERFACE and IP_ADDRESS for use by
       user's profile-changing scripts.  (closes: Bug#186685)
   * Make changes to debian/templates as suggested by Thomas Hood.
     (closes: Bug#178432)
   * Don't source config file unless it exists. (closes: Bug#177882)
   * Add warning message to top of config files that are managed by
     debconf, as suggested by Dennis Boone.
   * Update standards version to 3.5.9 (no changes).

 -- Chris Hanson <cph@debian.org>  Sat, 5 Apr 2003 00:26:44 -0500

2002

   * Fix problems with failure of MII calls on "down" interfaces.
     (closes: Bug#172647)

 -- Chris Hanson <cph@debian.org>  Sun, 10 Nov 2002 20:21:41 -0500

laptop-net (2.12-1) unstable; urgency=low

   * Split rules file into separate -arch and -indep sections.
     This should help the autobuilders by eliminating the need to
     rebuild the laptop-net-doc package. Thanks to Christian Steigies for
     bringing this to my attention.

 -- Chris Hanson <cph@debian.org>  Fri, 8 Nov 2002 23:20:12 -0500

 -- Chris Hanson <cph@debian.org>  Fri, 18 Oct 2002 18:51:11 -0400

laptop-net (2.9-1) unstable; urgency=low

   * New upstream version adds "before-deselect" and "after-dselect"
     scripts to profile-change mechanism. Also the handling of the
     resolv.conf file has been changed to back up the old file rather than
     commenting out its entries, to reduce clutter. (closes: Bug#162841)
   * Update standards-version to 3.5.7 by adding support for "noopt"
     in DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS.

 -- Chris Hanson <cph@debian.org>  Mon, 30 Sep 2002 12:58:42 -0400

laptop-net (2.8-1) unstable; urgency=low

   * New upstream version changes handling of /etc/resolv.conf to avoid
     clutter.

 -- Chris Hanson <cph@debian.org>  Thu, 15 Aug 2002 11:50:35 -0400

laptop-net (2.7-2) unstable; urgency=low

   * Recompile with new libpcap.
   * Eliminate "Suggests: dhcpcd" because dhcpcd no longer exists.
   * Remove "SIG" prefix from trap names, as required by POSIX.2.
   * Use debhelper V4.

 -- Chris Hanson <cph@debian.org>  Tue, 6 Aug 2002 23:30:08 -0400

laptop-net (2.7-1) unstable; urgency=low

   * New upstream version. Provides support for probing current settings,
     and ifd now uses either new or old SIOCGMII* ioctls.
     (closes: Bug#138238)
   * Use current network settings as defaults when asking configuration
     questions.  (closes: Bug#123627)
   * Add locking to synchronize events coming from ifd and from user. This
     adds a dependency on "lockfile-progs".

 -- Chris Hanson <cph@debian.org>  Thu, 14 Mar 2002 16:06:16 -0500

laptop-net (2.6-2) unstable; urgency=low

     has been split into two parts.

 -- Chris Hanson <cph@debian.org>  Sun, 24 Feb 2002 00:39:44 -0500

laptop-net (2.6-1) unstable; urgency=low

   * New upstream version adds mechanism to probe the network with ARP
     requests and choose the scheme based on the replies.
   * Change debconf interface to explicitly ask for permission to overwrite
     configuration files, rather than trying to guess.
   * Remove references to long-obsolete "ob6000-net" package. (This was
     never a part of Debian.)
   * Add "Suggests:" for any of the DHCP clients I know of.
   * Stop daemon on reconfigure; it is started afterwards in the postinst.
     If we don't do this, an error message is generated in the postinst.

 -- Chris Hanson <cph@debian.org>  Sat, 23 Feb 2002 23:55:11 -0500

laptop-net (2.5-1) unstable; urgency=low

   * Fix two bugs in shared.sh.in: (1) kernel_at_least_2_4_p was defined
     after its first use; (2) shut_down_nfs wasn't excluding loopback
     mounts.
   * Add changes recommended by autotools-dev package.

 -- Chris Hanson <cph@debian.org>  Fri, 8 Feb 2002 09:21:43 -0500

   * Add German translations to templates file. (closes: Bug#128894)

 -- Chris Hanson <cph@debian.org>  Fri, 25 Jan 2002 00:54:55 -0500

laptop-net (2.4-1) unstable; urgency=low

   * Don't overwrite existing "/etc/resolv.conf" file. (Slightly reworked
     patch from Bas Zoetekouw.) (closes: Bug#123660)
   * Allow user to specify that driver doesn't support MII, and provide
     reduced functionality in that case. (closes: Bug#124156)
   * Change architecture from "i386" to "any". It should have been "any"
     from the beginning.  (closes: Bug#128481)

 -- Chris Hanson <cph@debian.org>  Wed, 9 Jan 2002 15:56:15 -0500

2001

laptop-net (2.3-1) unstable; urgency=low

   * Initial submission to Debian. (closes: Bug#119184)

 -- Chris Hanson <cph@debian.org>  Tue, 13 Nov 2001 16:06:41 -0500

laptop-net (2.2-1) unstable; urgency=low

   * New upstream version fixes problem with pcmcia-cs scripts calling
     profile_change too early.
   * Add dependency on debconf.
   * Update standards-version to 3.5.6.

 -- Chris Hanson <cph@debian.org>  Tue, 9 Oct 2001 12:57:32 -0400

laptop-net (2.1-0.cph.1) stable; urgency=low

   * New upstream version fixes several bugs.

 -- Chris Hanson <cph@debian.org>  Wed, 13 Jun 2001 13:32:41 -0400

laptop-net (2.0-0.cph.1) stable; urgency=low

   * New upstream version adds support for profiles, which are groups of
     configuration files that are installed when the network interface is
     turned on or has its IP address changed. There is now also a manual
     describing how to configure and use this package.
   * Install new documentation, and add doc-base entry for it.
   * Use debconf to create initial configuration.

 -- Chris Hanson <cph@debian.org>  Mon, 11 Jun 2001 14:27:37 -0400

laptop-net (1.8-0.cph.1) stable; urgency=low

   * New upstream version. Don't try to unmount NFS mounts at suspend
     time. This is doomed to fail on 2.4 kernels because the network
     device has already been turned off by the time we get control. We
     could do this for 2.2 kernels, but it's probably better that the
     behavior be uniform.

 -- Chris Hanson <cph@debian.org>  Tue, 5 Jun 2001 14:41:44 -0400

laptop-net (1.7-1) stable; urgency=low

   * New upstream version.
   * Fix bug: don't call ifup from the init.d script; just load the module
     and let ifd handle the ifup. This fixes a race condition.

 -- Chris Hanson <cph@debian.org>  Mon, 16 Apr 2001 13:19:59 -0400

laptop-net (1.6-1) stable; urgency=low

   * New upstream version.

 -- Chris Hanson <cph@debian.org>  Fri, 13 Apr 2001 13:47:21 -0400

laptop-net (1.5-1) stable; urgency=low

   * New upstream version.

 -- Chris Hanson <cph@debian.org>  Mon, 9 Apr 2001 18:08:27 -0400

laptop-net (1.4-2) stable; urgency=low

   * Make the init.d be run earlier than pcmcia-cs, so that the network
     module is loaded first.  This is needed so that the network gets eth0;
     otherwise pcmcia-cs will get it (if a network card is in the socket at
     boot) and ifd will be mistakenly watching aa pcmcia network card
     rather than the built-in network.

     The correct fix is to find some way to figure out which network device
     is associated with the built-in network, and to watch that device. I
     don't yet know how to do that, so this workaround will have to do for
     now.

 -- Chris Hanson <cph@debian.org>  Sat, 7 Apr 2001 23:06:26 -0400

laptop-net (1.4-1) stable; urgency=low

   * New upstream version.
   * Move configuration file to "/etc/default/laptop-net" to satisfy recent

laptop-net (1.3-1) stable; urgency=low

   * Don't assume that Linux 2.4.x suspend/resume works right. It appears
     to have problems in some situations.
   * Tweak scripts slightly to simplify logic.

laptop-net (1.2-1) stable; urgency=low

   * Change name to laptop-net; this should work on any machine that
     supports MII.
   * Completely rework the scripts again, in order to take advantage of the
     suspend support in Linux 2.4.x. Work around the DHCP problem by
     adding code to restart the DHCP client on resume.

ob6000-net (1.1-1) stable; urgency=medium

   * Make another attempt to fix problems with Linux 2.4.0. Previous
     solution works in limited situations but not in all. In particular,
     the suspend support for the network driver doesn't interact well with
     DHCP. This version uses the same strategy for both 2.2.x and 2.4.x,
     unloading and reloading the module around the suspend. This also
     works around a bug in the 2.4.0 kernel that causes multiple resume
     events to be sent to apmd.

ob6000-net (1.0-4) stable; urgency=medium

   * Fix problems with Linux 2.4.0, which now supports suspend/resume for
     the network driver. This new behavior caused an unexpected sequence
     of events to occur, resulting in the network getting wedged. Now, for
     2.4.0 or later, no special action is taken at suspend.

ob6000-net (1.0-2) stable; urgency=low

   * Fix problems with ifd; when run under Linux 2.4.0-test12, it was dying
     when the machine was suspended.
